Ella Ultimate Acrylic Walk-In Spa Bath Review

The Ella Ultimate Acrylic Walk-In Spa Bath bathtub-and-shower combo has a triple-massage design that sets it apart. The tub has a fast-filling faucet and dual drains, to minimize the time you or your loved one needs to sit in the tub while it's filled and emptied (although the actual performance may depend on your plumbing). It has a combined total of 26 air and water jets to massage your back, feet and legs. Its two grab bars make it easy to get in and out of the tub, and a textured floor improves stability. Its handles are easy to access and use. However, it doesn't have easy wheelchair accessibility.

Design and Style

The Ella Ultimate has a total of 26 water and air jets, which massage your back, legs and feet. The built-in seat is 20 inches wide and contoured for comfort. The faucet fills the tub at 18 gallons per minute, so you won't have to sit in the cold for long. This walk-in tub also comes with a dual-drain system, so your tub empties quickly.

Although the Ella Ultimate has a similar length and width as traditional bathtubs and fits in a standard bathtub alcove, it is much deeper and can hold up to 95 gallons of water, which is one of the largest volume capacities we saw in walk-in bathtubs. The frame is made of stainless steel, and the tub shell is made of acrylic with a glossy finish that's easy to clean.

The Ella Ultimate has a low threshold of 8.5 inches, so it's easy to step in and out. But if that’s still too tall, the bottom access panel can be removed, revealing adjustable legs that can be tuned during installation to lower the threshold to 5.5 inches. It’s important to note that this adjustment is final, as it can be completed only during the initial installation. The narrow door doesn't provide wheelchair access, but the Ella Ultimate includes several safety features, such as two grab bars, which offer stability while you're sitting or standing in the tub, and the textured floor is designed to prevent slipping.

You get several accessories with this walk-in tub, including a swivel tray to hold your bath supplies and a five-piece faucet set with a retractable handheld shower. Even the drain opener is designed for people with limited movement; the extension handle makes it easy to grip and turn the handle.

Ella offers a lifetime warranty on the frame, door, seal and shell. All of the other parts are covered by a five-year warranty. And although safe-step tubs like this are more expensive than traditional tubs and basic soaker tubs, the warranties mean you don't have to worry about pricey repairs or replacements.

The Final Verdict

If your budget allows for all the bells and whistles of a walk-in bathtub, the Ella Ultimate Acrylic Walk-In Spa should be able to offer you plenty along the lines of safety and therapeutic features, including 26 air and water jets for full-body massages. Though it won't be the perfect walk-in for everyone, particularly because of its narrow entry, we consider it the best overall walk-in bathtub in our review for its combination of standard and spa-like features.
